COLUMBUS- State Rep. Elgin Rogers (D-Toledo) encourages all interested parties to attend the Capital Budget Webinar: Preparing a Successful Bid for State Capital Budget Dollars. The Greater Ohio Policy Center, the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, and Heritage Ohio are hosting the webinar on Wednesday, August 23 from 1:00pm – 2:00pm. 

COLUMBUS – The Ohio House Pro-Life Caucus, a coalition of legislators committed to advancing a culture of life in Ohio, held its inaugural meeting of the 136th General Assembly. State Representative Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) was officially named Chair of the caucus, which now comprises 31 state representatives dedicated to creating policy that protects life, empowers women, and strengthens families across the state.

Majority Whip Nick Santucci (R-Niles) today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives approved the conference committee report for Am. Sub. House Bill 96 –the State Operating Budget. The budget plan, which allocates funding for state programs and operations for the next two years, includes provisions that aim to protect freedom, family and fiscal responsibility – approving historic property tax relief for Ohioans, implementing a flat tax rate and providing a record amount of state funding for school districts. 

Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives Matt Huffman (R-Lima) and State Representative Brian Stewart (R-Ashville) today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives approved the conference committee report for Am. The conservative, balanced and commonsense budget plan, which allocates funding for state programs and operations for the next two years, approves historic property tax relief for Ohioans, implements a flat tax rate and provides a record amount of state funding for school districts. 

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Elgin Rogers (D-Toledo) is reminding Ohioans that there is an election upcoming on August 8.  The deadline to register for the election is July 10th, early in-person and mail-in voting begin on July 11th, and the absentee ballot application deadline is August 1st.

COLUMBUS – State Representatives Cindy Abrams (R-Harrison) and Phil Plummer (R-Dayton) recently introduced legislation entitled the Larry Henderson Act after the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy who was tragically killed while working security detail at the University of Cincinnati’s Spring Commencement on May 2, 2025. 

COLUMBUS – State Representatives Cindy Abrams (R-Harrison) and Phil Plummer (R-Dayton) recently introduced legislation entitled the Larry Henderson Act after the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy who was tragically killed while working security detail at the University of Cincinnati’s Spring Commencement on May 2, 2025. 

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Elgin Rogers, Jr. (D-Toledo) today announced two separate funding approvals for the betterment of the northwest Ohio area from this week’s Controlling Board meeting. $750,000 in capital funds for the purchase of a residential treatment facility for Unison Behavioral Health Group, Inc. was approved, as well as, a $2,000,000 increase in funding to complete remedial design work in the Maumee River.

State Representative Kevin Miller (R-Newark) today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives passed House Bill 247 – also known as “Avery’s Law” – legislation that would establish new requirements on vicious dog owners to prevent dog attacks.
