COLUMBUS, Ohio — State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) released the following statement Wednesday regarding the Ohio House voting to override Governor DeWine’s veto of Substitute House Bill 68:

“Today, I proudly voted to override the Governor’s veto of Substitute House Bill 68,” Ghanbari said.  “I previously voted for the SAFE Act and Save Women’s Sports Act in June, supported it in December, and once again took a stand to protect our children and to also ensure that females can compete on a level playing field, not against biological males.  I am looking forward to the Senate following the House’s lead.”

The veto override now heads to the Ohio Senate for consideration.

COLUMBUS, OH – State Rep. Melanie Miller (R-City of Ashland) has issued the following statement on the Ohio House of Representatives voting to override Governor DeWine’s veto of House Bill 68, the SAFE Act and the Save Women’s Sports Act:

“This is a vote to protect women and children.  We must protect our children from making life altering decisions at such an early age – decisions that they will never be able to reverse.  Moms and dads always need to be a part of these critical decisions,” said Miller. “When it comes to women’s athletics, this vote ensures that females can compete on a level playing field, and not against biological males.”

Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) issued the following statement regarding the Ohio House of Representatives vote to override the veto of Governor Mike DeWine of House Bill 68, a combination of the Save Adolescents from Experimentation Act (SAFE) and the Save Women’s Sports Act:

The veto override of the SAFE Act will now be considered by the Ohio Senate.

COLUMBUS—Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) today announced that State Representative Andy Brenner (R-Powell) has been appointed to serve as chair of the House Education Committee effective next week. Representative Brenner previously introduced House Bill 74, which called for the reduction of state tests and limiting the time to three hours per year per subject. COLUMBUS, Ohio — State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) released the following statement Friday regarding Governor DeWine’s veto of Substitute House Bill 68:

“I’m disappointed the Governor has vetoed Substitute House Bill 68. His failure to support the legislature’s efforts to protect our children and ensure that females can compete on a level playing field, not against biological males, is both frustrating and disheartening,” Ghanbari said. “I voted for the SAFE Act and Save Women’s Sports Act on June 21, 2023. Due to a medical emergency, I was not in attendance for the concurrence vote of the Senate changes Dec. 13, 2023; however, I look forward to working with House leadership and will once again stand up for our children by voting to override his veto at the earliest opportunity.”
