COLUMBUS – The Ohio House Ways and Means Committee today began hearings on House Bill 458, legislation sponsored by State Representative Thomas Hall (R-Madison Twp.), which will eliminate August Special Elections in an effort to save taxpayer money. 

COLUMBUS – Law-abiding Ohioans would be able to carry a concealed handgun without a permit under legislation approved today by an Ohio House committee. 

COLUMBUS – The Ohio House of Representatives today passed House Bill 254, legislation which establishes domestic violence fatality review boards throughout the state, tailored to meet each county and region’s needs. The bi-partisan bill is sponsored by State Representatives Cindy Abrams (R- Harrison) and Kristin Boggs (D-Columbus).

State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) launched a nationwide challenge dubbed “#RideAlongAndLearn,” during a press conference Wednesday at the Statehouse. Ghanbari called on elected officials and key leaders across the country to engage with their local law enforcement and first responders.

State Rep. Gail Pavliga (R-Portage County) announces that House Bill 226 unanimously passed today within the Ohio House of Representatives. The legislation increases legal protections for Guardian ad Litems (GALs) and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). Pavliga is a joint sponsor of the bipartisan bill as she spoke to it on the House floor.

State Rep. Thomas Hall (R-Madison Twp.) testified earlier today on House Bill 361, which is a bipartisan bill that seeks to stop railroad companies from blocking crossings. Hall is a joint sponsor of the legislation alongside State Rep. Jessica Miranda.

COLUMBUS – State Representatives Laura Lanese (R-Grove City) and Marilyn John (R-Richland County) today provided sponsor testimony on House Bill 390, legislation that would require governmental evidence-retention entities to secure and test sexual assault examination (SAE) kits in relation to an investigation or prosecution of trafficking in persons.

COLUMBUS – A plan to help counties build and repair local jails was overwhelmingly approved today by the Ohio House of Representatives.

Two legislators are seeking to help children across the state by removing barriers to improve their lives.

COLUMBUS – State Representative Cindy Abrams (R- Harrison) today received the Croucher Family Award for Outstanding Leadership for her advocacy and work with the Ohio Domestic Violence Network (ODVN).
