State Rep. Ty Moore Applauds $1 Million Investment in Barnesville Hospital

COLUMBUS, OH – State Representative Ty Moore (R-Caldwell) today applauded the announcement of a $1 million grant awarded to WVU Medicine Barnesville Hospital through the Ohio Department of Development’s Advanced Energy Fund.
The funding will support critical infrastructure improvements and energy efficiency upgrades to strengthen hospital operations, reduce long-term costs, and ensure continued access to quality healthcare for residents of Barnesville and surrounding communities.
“Rural Hospitals are an integral part of Appalachia Ohio. We are happy that we could get them this funding,” said Moore. “This $1 million investment will help Barnesville Hospital modernize its facilities, reduce operating costs, and continue providing critical care to the families who depend on it. I am proud to have supported this effort and will continue advocating for investments that strengthen healthcare in rural Ohio.”
Planned improvements include replacing windows, upgrading LED lighting and controls, installing a high-efficiency chiller, improving the building envelope, and optimizing HVAC controls in the hospital’s Emergency Department.
Once completed, the upgrades are expected to reduce the hospital’s annual energy usage by more than 20%, allowing additional resources to be directed toward patient care and hospital operations.
Barnesville Hospital is one of 11 organizations statewide receiving funding through the Advanced Energy Fund, which supports projects that reduce energy consumption and associated costs.
