Today State Representative Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek) honored Katie Pauley as the 2016 Military Youth of the Year. Representative Perales presented Pauley with a resolution during today’s Ohio House session.
Ms. Pauley was selected as the 2016 Ohio Military Youth of the Year by the Boys and Girls Club for her dedication to various organizations and volunteerism throughout her community.
Ms. Pauley, a constituent of Rep. Perales, is president of Air Force Teen Council, president of Keystone, and is the first Wright Patterson Air Force Base Representative of Ohio 4H Healthy Living Advocates. Her father, Ryan, is a Master Sargent in the United States Air Force with nearly 20 years of service in the military. As a military child, Pauley has lived in Japan, Alaska, Texas, Utah and now Ohio.
Rep. Perales, a military veteran who also grew up in a military family, honored Pauley as one with knowledge of what she has been through.
“I know firsthand the challenges that come with growing up in a military family,” said Perales. “Fear for your family member and stress from constant moving are hard obstacles to overcome. It is an honor to recognize Katie because she has persevered and become a better person as a result of those challenges.”
Rep. Perales has devoted much of his time as a state representative to addressing the needs Ohio veterans, as well as recognizing the sacrifice that military families make to support their loved ones who are serving.
