AKRON –The Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame (GABHoF) awarded State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) the Glenn “Speed” Award for his contributions to baseball in the Akron area for nearly 30 years.

The award recognizes the efforts of a person in the community whose contributions to baseball have supported, served, and organized baseball in the Greater Akron Area.

“I am thankful to the GABHoF for recognizing my love of the game and commitment to helping youth, including my own children, play baseball,” Roemer said. “Thank you, Charlie Easton, Gary Domanick, and Mike Wheeler, for all you have done to support those who have a passion for baseball.”

Roemer coached Richfield and Revere Baseball for 27 years. He has served as the Vice President of Richfield Baseball and continued as commissioner in 1996, was appointed to umpire director in 1998, and was elected President of Richfield Baseball in 2001. While coaching and serving as Co-President of the Suburban Community Baseball League, his teams won SCBL championships in 2007-2009, and in the last game he coached in 2017.
