Roemer, House Members Send Letter to Ohio EPA Director Calling for an End to E-Checks

COLUMBUS –State Rep. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) sent a bipartisan letter advising Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Director Anne Vogel to end E-Check in Northeast Ohio. The letter has signatures from House members in every affected county.

“We write this letter urging the EPA to eliminate the costly federal program known as E-Check in Northeast Ohio,” said Roemer. “This subjectively applied program places an undue burden on hardworking people living in the following seven Northeast Ohio counties, Cuyahoga; Geauga; Lake; Lorain; Medina; Portage, and Summit.”

Roemer continued, “While this program was well-intentioned 30 years ago, the air quality is significantly cleaner in the Cleveland/Akron area compared to Greater Columbus. To maximize results, the policy should be aimed at ameliorating the greatest source of air pollution which is in Central Ohio and not Northeast Ohio.”
