Representative Williams Highlights Upcoming Round of Brownfield Remediation Grants

State Representative Josh Williams (R-Sylvania Twp.) today announced that the Ohio Department of Development has released guidelines for the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program.
In House Bill 96, Ohio’s State Operating Budget, the General Assembly allocated $200 million for the program. As required by the bill, $1 million is reserved for applicants in each of Ohio’s 88 counties and will be awarded via a merit-based process. The application opens November 12th at 10 a.m. and will close on December 5th at 5 p.m.
“The Brownfield Remediation Program is a powerful tool to revitalize forgotten properties and transform them into engines of local growth,” said State Representative Josh Williams. “This new round of funding gives every county an opportunity to turn contaminated or idle sites into new jobs, housing, and community assets. Northwest Ohio has many of these sites with incredible potential, and I encourage local leaders to apply for these grants before the deadline.”
The Brownfield Remediation Program provides funding to help clean up industrial, commercial, and institutional brownfield sites that are abandoned, idled, or underutilized due to a known or potential release of hazardous substances or petroleum.
The Department of Development will host a webinar at 10 a.m. Oct. 28 to present the guidelines in detail and allow potential applicants to ask any questions.
