Rep. Ritter Applauds Controlling Board Approval of Funds for Projects at Washington State College

State Representative Kevin Ritter (R-Marietta) announced that the Ohio Controlling Board this week approved the release of funding for multiple enhancement projects at Washington State College in Marietta.
On Monday, the Controlling Board approved the release of capital funds totaling $151,754.35 in fiscal year 2026, including a waiver of competitive selection in the amount of $139,135.60, for equipment related to the Workforce Based Training & Equipment (RAPIDS) Program.
According to documents provided at the meeting, through the Northern Appalachia Collaborative, Washington State College is developing a systemic approach to regional training for in-demand occupations associated with automotive, engineering, healthcare, and ancillary industries. The goal is to create expanded opportunities throughout the region to ensure a skilled workforce is prepared to meet the demands of these industries and related in-demand occupations.
The Controlling Board also approved the release of capital funds, and an agency released competitive opportunity, in the amount of $667,688.00 in fiscal year 2026 for a project updating the HVAC system in the Arts & Sciences building. Additionally, the release of capital funds in the amount of $183,716.50 was approved for a window project in the same building.
“RAPIDS funding helps the school purchase modernized training equipment that will upskill students for future careers – it’s a great investment into our students, workforce and region,” said Rep. Ritter. “It’s also promising to see resources provided to make improvements to the Arts and Sciences building, allowing it to be a more conducive learning environment for all.”
