MAHONING COUNTY — Representative Tex Fischer (R-Boardman) today announced that the Western Reserve Transit Authority (WRTA) has been awarded $228,413 through the Ohio Workforce Mobility Partnership Program to expand service on the Warren Express route, strengthening regional workforce access and supporting economic growth across Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

The funding will allow WRTA to increase the Warren Express route frequency to every 30 minutes during peak hours between Youngstown and Warren. This expanded service will improve connectivity to major employers, educational institutions, healthcare providers, and local businesses—helping residents access stable employment and economic opportunities.

“Reliable transportation is one of the most important tools we can provide to help Ohioans get to work, school, and essential services,” said Rep. Fischer. “This investment is a major win for Mahoning and Trumbull counties. It will make daily commutes easier, strengthen our workforce, and support continued economic growth throughout the region. I'm proud of the work our Lake to River caucus has done together to bring dollars back to the Mahoning Valley."

In House Bill 54 – Ohio’s State Transportation Budget – the General Assembly appropriated $15 million per fiscal year for the Ohio Workforce Mobility Partnership Program, which supports public workforce transportation in rural and urban areas of Ohio.  The program provides funding for infrastructure, equipment, technology, vehicles, and planning projects.
