Rep. Adam Mathews Honored with Ohio Chamber of Commerce Legislator of the Year Award

COLUMBUS, OH – State Representative Adam Mathews (R-Lebanon) today announced that the Ohio Chamber of Commerce named him Legislator of the Year for the House Majority Caucus, recognizing his strong support for Ohio’s business community and his leadership on key economic policy initiatives.
“Ohio businesses are the backbone of our economy, and I’m honored to receive this recognition from the Ohio Chamber of Commerce,” said Rep. Mathews. “From cutting taxes and eliminating burdensome regulations to modernizing our laws, my priority has been making Ohio the best place in the nation to start, operate, and grow a business. When our businesses succeed, Ohio families and communities succeed, and I look forward to continuing that work.”
Throughout his time in the Ohio House, Rep. Mathews has championed legislation to strengthen Ohio’s economic competitiveness and reduce barriers to business growth. His efforts include House Bill 30, which proposed reducing Ohio’s income tax to a flat 2.75% rate, a provision ultimately included in the state operating budget, and House Bill 195, which modernized Ohio’s Uniform Commercial Code to provide greater clarity for businesses and financial institutions navigating emerging technologies and digital assets.
Rep. Mathews also spearheaded House Bill 28 to eliminate replacement property tax levies and increase transparency for taxpayers, with the reform ultimately enacted through the state operating budget. Additionally, he advanced legislation to simplify municipal net profits tax filings for remote work and reduce regulatory burdens on employers, reinforcing his commitment to creating a more competitive and business-friendly Ohio.
The Ohio Chamber is also focused on tourism, and, at the award ceremony, highlighted Mathews’ work keeping the Cincinnati Open in Warren County.
