COLUMBUS—The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Parks and Watercraft recently awarded the Lake County Sherriff’s Office a Marine Patrol Assistance Grant, announced State Representative Jamie Callender (R-Concord).

Specifically, the Sherriff’s Office will receive $29,934.21 to continue the operation and maintenance of the local Marine Patrol, which consists of deputies that patrol the waters of Lake Erie spanning along Lake County. Lake County is home to estuaries, harbors, and 31 miles of Lake Erie shorelines.

“As warmer weather approaches, this funding will ensure families that call Lake County home and visitors alike are able to safely enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, and the overall beauty our county has to offer,” said Callender.

The Marine Patrol Assistance Grant program is funded by Ohio’s recreational boaters through the Waterways Safety Fund.
