Grendell Advocates for Manufacturers to Produce PPE
Manufacturers across Ohio have the opportunity to meet the demand of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as the health care industry faces shortages during the pandemic.
State Rep. Diane Grendell (R-Chesterland) announced that manufacturers with the capabilities and capacity to produce PPE can fill out a short information survey (https://ohiomfg.formstack.com/forms/repurposing_project) to get involved as quickly as possible.
“Several groups have teamed up to coordinate as the Ohio Manufacturing Alliance,” said Grendell. “This group is having manufacturers submit information of what they’re able to produce, simultaneously, communicating with the health care industry to see what shortages of supplies need to be met.”
Grendell is referring to the Ohio Manufacturers Association (OMA), the Ohio Hospitals Association, Ohio Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), and the Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network (MAGNET) all currently working together as the Ohio Manufacturing Alliance in order to fight COVID-19 by facilitating the manufacture of PPE in Ohio.
“As a registered nurse, I know what kind of pressure all of our health care workers are going through as we all face this crisis,” said Grendell. “This is such a great initiative to have our own Ohio manufacturers produce products that are in such a high-demand, and for a moral cause, to ensure our health care workers and their patients are properly protected.”
Grendell announced earlier this week being in contact with a manufacturer near the 76th district, Braze Solutions LLC. Grendell and founder Alex Greenspan discussed his plan to create a mask to combat the spread of COVID-19.
“His company is offering the public a unique and modern response in preventing spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus and return the population back to work and a normal life,” said Grendell. “The 2020 facial mask is able to kill micro-organisms from entering our breathing system and protect the infection element of any virus entering our body. The mask will consist of a familiar facial mask and sophisticated cover with a control apparatus to block and kill microscopic elements.”
For manufacturers that have more questions or require more information regarding the Ohio Manufacturing Alliance initiative to retool and repurpose manufacturers to fight the coronavirus, inquiries can be sent to repurposingproject@ohiomfg.com.
“I urge all manufacturers across Ohio to please apply to produce PPE if you’re able,” said Grendell. “This is the time we must all come together and work to defeat COVID-19.”
