BOSTON - State Rep. Beryl Brown Piccolantonio (D-Gahanna) today stood in solidarity with Democratic members of the Texas State Senate and dozens of lawmakers from other states in Boston, MA denouncing the undemocratic attempt by Texas Republicans to unfairly redraw the state's congressional maps to favor Republican candidates ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Rep. Brown Piccolantonio is in Boston attending the annual National Conference of State Legislatures.

“I am proud to stand together with colleagues in Ohio and in solidarity with legislators in Texas as we fight back against cheaters trying to rig the system and ignore our US Constitution. This isn’t only happening in Texas; it’s happening in Ohio and across the country. We will not stand by and allow the foundation of this country to be ripped to shreds.

I cannot think of a more fitting way to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act than to rally in support of a government that ensures fair representation for all Americans,” said Rep. Brown Piccolantonio.

President Donald Trump demanded Texas redraw its congressional map in hopes of adding five more GOP seats in Texas in the midterm elections to increase Republicans’ chances of holding its slim majority in the U.S. House. Republicans currently hold 25 of Texas' 38 seats.
