House Minority Leader Russo Applauds President Biden's State of the Union Message of Hope and Unity

COLUMBUS – Ohio House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) released the following statement following President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address: 

“The resilience Ohio’s working families have shown over the course of the past few years is not only a testament to the American spirit, but to President Biden’s leadership as well. Thanks to the president’s economic agenda, Ohio has seen the number of manufacturing jobs rise, the price of everyday items like gasoline and insulin come down, and a series of vital infrastructure projects break ground across the state,” said Leader Russo. 

“But as the president pointed out, it’s time to finish the job. To do that, House Democrats will continue to reach across the aisle to make sure working families have every opportunity to thrive, that children have access to well-funded public education that delivers on the promise of a brighter future, and that, together, we fight to keep our communities safe for everyone- no matter what they look like or where they come from.”

“Despite Ohio’s progress and its possibilities ahead, turning our back on democracy and the freedoms it provides can never be an option. Ohio must show the nation we’re open for business to those who believe in the freedom to choose, the freedom to vote and the freedom to live and work with dignity.” 

House Democrats have put forth the People First Agenda, which believes investments in people- workers, families, teachers and students- is a pathway to ensuring success for Ohio and all its citizens.
