Beryl Brown Piccolantonio Named to Represent Ohio's 4th House District

COLUMBUS – House Democrats today announce the swearing-in of Beryl Piccolantonio (D - Gahanna) to represent Ohio’s 4th House District, after the resignation of State Rep. Mary Lightbody.

“I am honored to have been selected for this position. Ohio’s 4th District is my home and I hold a special place in my heart for this community. As your state representative, I promise to serve with integrity, passion, and unwavering support of my constituents. I want to thank Leader Russo and the House Minority Caucus for their trust in me, as well as Rep. Lightbody for her dedication to our district that she has demonstrated throughout her career.” said Rep. Piccolantonio.

A graduate from Ohio Dominican University and The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, Rep. Piccolantonio has devoted her professional career to enhancing the lives of her community. For over 20 years, she has worked with the Industrial Commission of Ohio, where she has taken on many roles. Rep. Piccolantonio has presided over administrative hearings, worked in the human resources and legal departments as the Director of Labor Relations, and currently serves as chief ombudsperson for Ohio’s workers’ compensation system.

In 2016, Rep. Piccolantonio joined the Gahanna-Jefferson School Board and has served as the President since 2016. Rep. Piccolantonio’s experience as an attorney dealing with labor relations and mediation has helped her excel in the position as school board president. In November of 2023 she was re-elected to the school board. 

Rep. Piccolantonio resides in Gahanna with her husband and three sons. She is excited to serve her community at the state level and work to build an Ohio that puts people first. 

Leader Russo today welcomed Rep. Piccolantonio to the Ohio House Minority Caucus.

Piccolantonio has shown throughout her career in public service that she is devoted to doing the hard work needed to bring positive change to the communities she serves,” said Leader Russo. “I am looking forward to working with her and seeing how she will lead the 4th House District. I know that she will be a great addition to the House Democratic Caucus and the Ohio Legislature.”

Rep. Piccolantonio’s committee assignments will be announced in the coming days.
