Franklin County Democrats respond to Columbus City Schools safety negotiation impasse
COLUMBUS— Franklin County House Democratic lawmakers issued the following statement regarding the Columbus City School impasse with Columbus Education Association over negotiations for safer working conditions for students and teachers:
“We all want our children to receive the highest quality education right here in Columbus. Our students need classrooms that are clean, safe and secure so they can learn and grow to their fullest potentials. Our Columbus City School teachers need the support of the community and the state to be effective in these classrooms. We urge the CEA and the school district to continue negotiations so our children and teachers can start the school year together as soon as possible.
“As legislators, we will continue to fight for fair school funding to ensure all school buildings are properly maintained, all educators receive compensation commensurate with the challenges, and all students obtain the well-rounded education they deserve.”
