COLUMBUS – Invited on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel and the Consulate General of Israel in New York, State Representatives Jason Stephens (R-Kitts Hill), Melanie Miller (R- Ashland), Ty Mathews (R-Findlay), and Eric Synenberg (D-Beachwood) recently participated in 50 States One Israel, a historic bipartisan delegation uniting state legislators from across the United States. Hosted in Jerusalem and TelAviv, the conference aimed to strengthen ties between the United States and Israel.

The representatives had the opportunity to meet with Israeli leaders, discuss political issues, visit historical and cultural sites, including areas impacted by recent conflict, and participate in a tree planting ceremony, during which 50 trees were planted to represent each state and symbolize the relationship between the two nations.

“It was horrifying to see where unprovoked barbarism was unleashed on the people of Israel on October 7, 2023,” said Stephens. “Israel’s leaders made it clear that they intend to protect their citizens and their freedom – a goal we should support as Ohioans and Americans.”

Stephens also noted that it was an honor to visit Israel, a thriving country despite being located in a dangerous part of the world.

“Being in Israel underscored for me how deeply our two nations are connected through our shared values of freedom, democracy, and faith,” said Miller. “This experience reaffirmed the importance of strengthening that partnership so we can continue to stand together in promoting security, innovation, and opportunity for future generations.”

“I am thankful for the opportunity to have visited Israel with my fellow legislators from around the United States and here in Ohio,” said Synenberg. “As a member of the Ohio Jewish Caucus, this trip deepened my understanding of the vital relationship between the United States and Israel. It served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of protecting our shared democratic values and supporting the security and future of the State of Israel.”

A bipartisan delegation of 250 elected officials attended the conference, representing all 50 states.
