Rep. Rogers Attends the Ohio State Fair and Battle for the Bacon

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Elgin Rogers, Jr. (D-Toledo) participated in the annual Battle for the Bacon competition highlighting the next generation of agricultural leaders while celebrating Ohio's agricultural history.

Rep. Rogers was teamed up with Claire of Wood County, whose experience and guidance in the show ring helped the pair earn the title for "Best Showmanship Skills." Rep. Rogers extends his appreciation to Claire, her mother Erin, and aunt Emily for the guidance, support, and encouragement throughout the event.

‘Battle for the Bacon’ highlighted Ohio's pork industry while giving participants an inside look at livestock handling techniques, show ring etiquette, and the dedication required to raise and exhibit swine. The continued investments and improvements made to the Ohio State Fairgrounds have enhanced the experience for exhibitors, families, and visitors while helping preserve the tradition of the fair.

“We know this industry is a vital part of both our local and global economy, and we must continue supporting Ohio farmers. I encourage everyone to eat Ohio raised pork and beef whenever possible,” noted Rep. Rogers.

Rep. Rogers congratulates all the participating 4-H and FFA exhibitors and thanks the organizers, volunteers, and families who make the Ohio State Fair a meaningful experience each year.
