State Rep. Tom Patton (R-Strongsville) announces $706,786 that will be awarded to local school districts for safety and security. The initiative was made possible through legislation Patton cosponsored and supported to strengthen school security. The funding stems from House Bill 687, which allocates $100 million for this grant program.

“Any assistance we can provide to keep our children and teachers safe throughout our schools is vital,” Patton said. “This funding is going to enhance security for students, staff and administrators. I believe this program will hopefully make a real difference in protecting all our students each and every day and gives parents more peace of mind that we’re working to keep their kids safe.”

The Ohio K-12 School Safety Grant Program had thousands of schools apply, and the following schools in the 7th Ohio House District were selected to receive this grant:

  • Strongsville City School District - $289,043
  • Berea City School District - $50,000
  • North Royalton City School District - $150,000
  • Olmsted Falls City School District - $217,743

Another application period is expected in the future in which schools that have not yet applied will receive priority consideration.
