Rep. Denson: Issue 2 Will Create Jobs, Fix Countless Community Projects
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Sedrick Denson (D-Cincinnati) today released the following statement concerning Issue 2’s resounding passage by Ohio’s voters:
“With the passage of Issue 2, Ohioans have taken a monumental step toward revitalizing our communities and creating thousands of jobs. The State Capital Improvement program funds critical infrastructure projects like roads and bridges and does so without raising taxes. This program has been an invaluable resource not only to the city of Cincinnati but all of Ohio and I am extremely pleased that voters have shown overwhelming support for the funding of our state’s public goods,” said Rep. Denson.
With Issue 2's approval, the State Capital Improvement Program will create tens of thousands of jobs and issue general obligation bonds up to $250 million annually, an increase from the current $200 million per year. Issue 2 will also help local governments with critical infrastructure projects. Ohioans first voted for the program as a lawmaker-backed constitutional amendment in 1987 and have since renewed it four times.
