COLUMBUS—State Representative Sedrick Denson (D-Cincinnati) today released a statement following the dangerous and partisan attack on Dr. Amy Acton by House Republicans:

“Now more than ever, it’s critical that we listen to our health experts and trust findings steeped in data,” said Rep. Denson. “There was a dangerous amendment placed into SB 1 at the 11th hour that’s as short sighted as it is politically charged. Knowing my constituents elected me to make the best decisions for their safety on their behalf in Columbus, I could not possibly support this bill.”

The amendment was attached to Senate Bill 1 in today’s State and Local Government Committee meeting without advance notice or any public testimony and was discharged from committee on a party-line vote, with all Democratic members voting against it.

The amended bill now goes to the Senate for a vote.
