COLUMBUS - State Rep. Michele Grim (D-Toledo) today announced funding for the University of Toledo through the state’s Capital Budget.

The capital budget is the mechanism by which the state funds its brick-and-mortar needs. This ranges from the construction and renovation of K-12 public schools and higher education facilities to public works programs and mental health treatment centers, as well as funding local community projects. It includes funding for projects that expand access to healthcare, strengthen local economies, preserve cultural institutions, improve public infrastructure, and enhance quality of life for residents across the region.

Rep. Grim helped secure $18,119,899 for the University of Toledo.

“As a flagship institution in the Toledo community I am proud to announce the award of over $18 million for the University of Toledo. University of Toledo is more than a higher education institution, it is a significant employer and gathering place for the region. This funding will help with critical infrastructure improvements, so the University can continue to thrive for decades to come,” said Rep. Grim.

Approximately $18,119,899 will be distributed for the following projects:

  • Building Envelope/Weatherproofing - $10,000,000
  • Underground Utility Infrastructure Improvements - $8,119,899

SB 450 now heads to the governor's desk for his signature.
