Rep. McNally Announces Over $42K to Catholic Charities Housing Opportunities
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced that The Ohio Department of Development (DOD) awarded $42,755 to Catholic Charities Housing Opportunities. The DOD hopes that housing assistance grants will help nonprofits with work on essential home repairs, renovations toward handicap accessibility, up to $5K per home in down-payment assistance and $500 for homebuyer education per household. Catholic Charities Housing Opportunities will be using this opportunity to provide down payment assistance and housing counseling to seven households.
“I think this is a wonderful opportunity for our region and the new home owners that this will help. Owning a home is a huge financial responsibility and I am excited for Catholic Charities to make a positive impact on these homeowner’s lives,” said Rep. McNally.
The grants have been awarded to 18 nonprofit organizations across the state. The grants total $4.59M to help homeowners and home buyers. Catholic Charities has a Homeownership Program that works collaboratively with HUD certified housing counselors in the Diocese of Youngstown.
