COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced $199,149.18 for Youngstown’s COMPASS Family and Community Services as part of the Direct Services for Victims of Human Trafficking Grant Program.

“Survivors of human trafficking need a great deal of support,” said Rep. McNally. “I’m thrilled that the state is investing in some of the district’s most vulnerable people.”

The Grant Program, announced last September, was created by the Ohio General Assembly and Governor DeWine, with principal funding coming from Ohio’s operating budget. An additional $600,000 was added due to the large number of grant applications, resulting in a total of $4.6 million being awarded to 30 nonprofits in 14 counties. The program was created with the aim of serving the needs of the growing number of sex and labor trafficking victims, funding services including, but not limited to:

·       Mental health services

·       Substance use disorder treatment

·       Education and employment support

·       Residential placement

COMPASS Family & Community Services is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit that provides a wide variety of services for people of all ages. Their resources include, among many other services, counseling for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, therapeutic programs for those suffering from drug and alcohol addictions, residential services for disabled individuals, and assistance with job training and placement.
