COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced $761,386 in grant funding from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for transportation projects that promote economic development in terms of job creation, job retention, and private sector capital investment.

“Infrastructure is the backbone of our economy” said Rep. McNally. “This investment of state money will bolster our local businesses, big and small. Some of our largest employers will see direct benefits from these projects.”

The grants are part of ODOT’s Transportation Improvement District Projects, which support job creation and retention, economic development, intergovernmental cooperation and private capital investment across Ohio. $500,000 will support the County Road 430 Reconstruction Project in Columbiana County, and $261,386 will support the Mahoning Avenue Industrial Corridor Upgrade Project in Mahoning County.

According to the ODOT project listing, these funds will specifically be used to widen the County Road 430 Corridor, a road carrying over 5,328 vehicles daily, including curb and gutter fixes as well as correcting alignment. Additionally, Mahoning Avenue and Rosemont Road will receive a bridge replacement and a new traffic signal, which will help facilitate truck traffic from the companies located in the area.
