COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced that the Ohio Commission on Minority Health awarded the Youngstown Local Office on Minority Health a $52,500 grant. The Ohio Commission on Minority Health is dedicated to eliminating disparities in minority health through innovative strategies and financial opportunities, public health promotion, legislative action, public policy and systems change.

“Youngstown is full of diversity and having a minority health division in our Health Department is a vital piece in making all of us thrive. This grant is an opportunity to expand and continue to inform, educate, and empower everyone in Youngstown,” said Rep. McNally.

Youngstown is committed to minority health and created a division of the Health Department to inform community members and leaders of health issues that affect minority and under-served populations, educate community members and leaders about health disparities through programing, and empower community members by providing access to the information and resources needed to improve their heath. Some of their programs include the Dads Matter program, creating Minority Health Month, and the MY Baby’s 1st Coalition.
