Rep. McNally Announces $297.5K in Grants for Mahoning County Sheriff's Office
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced that the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office was awarded $297,500 in Violent Crime Reduction Grant. This grant can go towards investigative overtime costs, new technology to support crime reduction, targeted patrols in high-crime areas, and other initiatives.
“I am grateful for this funding opportunity. I know that the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office will use this support to make our communities safer,” said Rep. McNally.
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Andy Wilson announced $3.4M in grants to 44 jurisdictions in 28 counties for investigative overtime, new technology for crime reduction, targeted patrols in crime-ridden areas and other initiatives. Since the launch of The Violent Crime Reduction Grant, it has awarded a total of $87M through the different rounds of funding. This round of violent crime reduction grants was funded by House Bill 96—the State Operating Budget for fiscal years 2026-27.
