COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) announced that the State Controlling Board approved $178,800 to support the Youngstown State University’s Building Envelope Renovations project.

“My goal is to always give the people in Mahoning Valley the tools they need to live their best lives,” said Rep. McNally. “This funding for YSU will make us stronger and more successful.”

The funding released today will help Youngstown State University with an architectural design contract for its Building Envelope Renovations. The project’s full scope will include remediation and improvement of the full brick veneer exterior skins and brick plaza paving surfaces that have experienced weathering and deterioration of their masonry exteriors, building door, and window systems. The $178,800 from the State Controlling Board will help restore the building integrity and prevent further air and water infiltration.

“When our students and staff aren’t worried about water leaks in their buildings, they can concentrate on the learning that matters most,” said Rep. McNally. “I’m hopeful this state funding will take things off their plates and allow them to concentrate on their futures.”
