Rep. McNally Announces $104,260.36 in Grant Funding for Mahoning County Drug Task Forces
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-Youngstown) today announced that Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office has received $104,260.36 in grant funding from the 2025 Drug Law Enforcement Grant program. The 2025 Ohio Drug Law Enforcement Fund targets drug trafficking, pharmaceutical diversion and organized criminal activity associated with the drug trade through intelligence gathering, information sharing and multi-agency coordination. Grants also assist drug overdose victims and their families through education, support and treatment. This is part of a wider initiative announced by Gov. Mike DeWine to combat Ohio’s illicit substance trade.
“It is so important that the state has taken initiative to help local police departments combat the national drug trade problem. Ohio was hit hard by the opioid crisis, and we are still seeing the aftershocks of it in our communities. I am proud of this step and that it is a multifaceted approach – education, support, and treatment are vital pillars in making Ohio and all Ohioans healthy,” said Rep. McNally.
Specific, local grants like this are part of Governor DeWine's RecoveryOhio initiative, which aims to increase substance use and mental health awareness, implement age-appropriate prevention education, and promote treatment with the goal of recovery. The program is administered by the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services.
