State Representative Johnathan Newman (R-Troy) attended the White House State Leadership Conference last week alongside more than 50 Ohio lawmakers and other officials. The conference was organized by the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs to foster collaboration and communication between federal, state and local governments, while providing a forum to discuss shared priorities, policies, and more.

“How great to see the President’s policy initiatives being backed up by members of his cabinet,” said Rep. Newman. “They have their foot on the gas getting top priorities done and not looking back.”

Rep. Newman presented a letter signed by 52 members of the Ohio house addressed to the President and his cabinet concerning drone safety. President Trump signed an executive order in June, making funds available to states for drone tracking equipment. The letter calls for Ohio to be among the first to receive those funds.

They also had the opportunity to discuss Ohio’s priorities with senior officials in the Trump Administration, including Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
