Ohio House Passes HB 134, Providing a Way for Legal Home Kitchen Food Sales

COLUMBUS – State Representative Jennifer Gross (R-West Chester) today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives passed House Bill 134, legislation to authorize home kitchen registration to sell additional types of foods. 

This legislation works to create a Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operation Registration, offering a practical solution to Ohio’s outdated Cottage Foods and home bakery registration laws that prevent home-based food producers from earning a living and growing their business.  This allows individuals to sell homemade foods produced in their kitchen without having to obtain a food processing license from the state.

“Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations bring additional healthy food options to families and gives business opportunities to entrepreneurs,” said Gross, who is the sponsor of the bill.

House Bill 134 now goes to the Senate for further consideration.
