Reps. White, Hiner Introduce Bipartisan Legislation Supporting American Industry, Jobs
COLUMBUS – State Reps. Erika White (D-Springfield Township) and Mark Hiner (R-Howard) last week introduced bipartisan legislation requiring that any infrastructure, including highway improvements and utility infrastructure improvement projects that are built using state funds, must use American-made iron or steel products.
“This legislation is crucial for all Ohioans, particularly those in the 41st District and Lucas County. By reinvesting in American manufacturing, we secure and create Ohio jobs, putting the needs of Ohio workers and their families front and center. Strengthening the manufacturing sector will not only provide stable employment but also stimulate significant economic growth in our communities,” said Rep. White. “As the state commits to investing in infrastructure and transportation and with the current passage of Issue 2, it is imperative that we support the rise of American-made products and broaden opportunities across every corner of Ohio. This strategy is essential for empowering our economy and securing a prosperous future that works for all Ohioans.”
The bill awaits a bill number and House committee assignment.
