Rep. White Opposes SJR 10

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Erika White (D-Springfield Township) today issued the following statement on Senate Joint Resolution (SJR) 10, legislation that proposes and amendment to the Ohio Constitution to appear on the ballot in November 2026, to require electors provide photo identification (ID) when voting in person. SJR 10 defines photo ID as the same documents that are currently available in the Ohio Revised Code (ORC).
“I voted no on Senate Joint Resolution 10 because Ohio already has a voter ID law. This resolution is not about creating a new requirement; it is about placing an existing statute into the Ohio Constitution. I believe in secure elections and Ohio already has voter identification requirements in law. The current language of this joint resolution does not provide for the nearly guaranteed changes to identification methods as technology continues to advance. The question before us was whether those requirements belong in the Ohio Constitution. They do not,” said Rep. White.
Rep. White remains focused on addressing rising costs, property taxes, housing affordability, health care, and public education; and remains committed to ensuring participation in democracy is attainable for every Ohioan.
