Rep. White Celebrates the Signing of HB 311, Applauds the Recognition of EMS Professionals

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Erika White (D-Springfield Township) today celebrated the ceremonial signing of House Bill (HB) 311 by Governor Mike DeWine. This bipartisan bill, jointly sponsored by State Rep. James Hoops (R-Napoleon), will designate the third full week of May as EMS week in Ohio. 

“House Bill 311 is about more than putting EMS week on the calendar. It is about recognizing the skilled, compassionate professionals who answer the call when our communities need them most,” said Rep. White. “We are honoring the EMS professionals and 911 dispatchers serving Ohio today while also showing the next generation that this is skilled work and meaningful public service in a profession worth pursuing. We need to thank those answering the call today and inspire those who will answer tomorrow.”

The first celebration of EMS week will take place the week of May 17th, 2027.
