Rep. White Announces Ranking Member Appointment for House Public Insurance and Pensions Committee
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Erika White (D-Springfield Township) today announced that she has been appointed as ranking member for the House Public Insurance and Pensions Committee for the remainder of the 136th General Assembly.¿
“I am both honored and privileged to serve as the ranking member of this important committee. My 30+ years as a worker, as well as, the opportunity to represent my peers and engage in labor negotiations will be invaluable in this role. While working, I served as a CWA/AT&T State Benefit Rep and have contributed to addressing the needs and concerns of my community through the labor movement. My firsthand experience keeps my feet to the fire and focused on the needs and priorities of Ohioans.
As ranking member, I am committed to collaborating with colleagues within my caucus and across the aisle to address the issues that matter most to our constituents; ensuring that the voices of Ohioans are not only heard but genuinely valued. I look forward to working together to enhance protections for workers, strengthen retirement security, and ensure that Ohioans can trust in the benefits they have rightfully earned. Focusing on common goals, we can create a stronger workforce and uplift communities throughout Ohio,” said Rep. White.
The House Public Insurance and Pensions Committee will be focused on the work of addressing the solvency of the state Unemployment Fund, the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund, and other elements of state pensions.
The committee is also responsible for reviewing legislation related to retirement systems, pension security, and public employee benefits — critical issues impacting Ohio workers, retirees, and families.
Rep. White is firmly committed that every Ohioan—regardless of race, gender, political affiliation, sexual orientation, or economic status—has access to safe communities and stable employment. She passionately advocates for the value of hard work, believing that to truly prosper, workers must retain what they have earned. Additionally, she asserts that for Ohio to thrive, the opportunities available must match the dedication and effort of its workforce.
