COLUMBUS - State Rep. Erika White (D-Springfield Township) today announced the passage of Senate Bill 450, the state's biennial capital appropriations budget. The bill allocates nearly $4B for the maintenance, renovation, and construction of state-owned infrastructure, including colleges, universities, school districts, and other community projects.

The capital budget is the mechanism by which the state funds its brick-and-mortar needs. This ranges from the construction and renovation of K-12 public schools and higher education facilities to public works programs and mental health treatment centers, as well as funding local community projects. It includes funding for projects that expand access to healthcare, strengthen local economies, preserve cultural institutions, improve public infrastructure, and enhance quality of life for residents across the region.

Rep. White helped secure $5.7 million for the Lucas County region.

“I am proud to have helped secure capital budget funding for Lucas County. These investments will make a real difference in the lives of people across Lucas County and Northwest Ohio. I am grateful to the local organizations and community partners who worked with my office to help bring these resources back to Northwest Ohio. I am especially excited to see these investments benefiting House District 41 and communities across Lucas County. I will continue fighting to ensure Lucas County receives its fair share and that we keep investing in the people and communities that make Northwest Ohio strong,” said Rep. White

A few of the projects in and around House District 41 include:

  • Springfield Township Homecoming Community Park
  • Toledo Valentine Theatre Improvements
  • Unison Health Improvements Projects
  • Toledo Museum of Art Team Lab
  • The City of Toledo Summit Riverfront Corridor
  • Imagination Station Project WOW
  • Cherry Street Mission Ministries, Mission Point Project
  • The Arts Commission Community Space
  • Live Arts Toledo Infrastructure Improvements
  • Unison Health Renovation Projects

“These projects will help address real local needs and strengthen the partnerships that move Lucas County forward. From supporting economic growth to enhancing community spaces and services, this funding will create opportunities that benefit residents today and for years to come. I am proud of the collaboration that helped make these investments possible, and I remain committed to working alongside local leaders and residents to deliver results that make a lasting difference,” added Rep. White.

Additionally, more than $234 million dollars were appropriated across Ohio’s thirteen public universities and colleges including the University of Toledo, receiving $18.1 million.

SB 450 now heads to the governor's desk for his signature.
