State Representative Johnathan Newman (R-Troy) on Friday sent a letter to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO), urging them to reroute their plan to install a powerline through Miami County and choose an alternative, northern route.

“The primary reason I oppose a path through Miami County is due to our significant growth in population and economic development,” said Newman. “A northern path would decrease the number of properties impacted. We strongly oppose any factors that would hamper the solid growth we are seeing.”

Within the letter, Newman emphasized that this proposed installation could significantly undermine the economic development and investment the community has worked to build over the last five years.

The PUCO regulates statewide utility and transportation service providers. It regulates statewide utility and transportation service providers.
