State Representatives Phil Plummer (R-Dayton), Tom Young (R-Washington Twp.), and Andrea White (R-Kettering) on Wednesday attended a kickoff event for Lt. Governor Tressel’s new initiative, WorkOhio.

WorkOhio helps connect Ohioans with in-demand jobs in their area through personalized support from teams of regional job experts. Through the initiative, job seekers can have access to training programs, job resources, and other career tools to help them reach their goals.

“WorkOhio will connect skilled workers with excellent career paths – building a strong workforce,” said Rep. Plummer.

“This is an innovation that will accelerate the process of connecting our workforce to our companies,” said Rep. Young.

"We don't want any Ohioan to be left behind in their ability to pursue a job and a pathway to support themselves and their families and fully thrive," said State Representative Andrea White.  "The WorkOhio initiative will help us build even stronger collaboration in our region and across the state to provide access to opportunity and SOCHE is the perfect partner to bring everyone together for this vital work."

This event was organized by the Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE), the lead regional hub for Southwest Ohio, and was held at the Emerge Recovery and Trade Initiative – a nonprofit organization that helps people who are in recovery or those aging out of foster care learn the skills they need to land an in-demand job.
