Today, State Rep. Scott Wiggam (R-Wayne County) and the Ohio House passed House Bill 428, which moves to recognize members of the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) commissioned corps, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Space Force as veterans under Ohio Law. Wiggam spoke to the bipartisan bill on the House floor.

State Rep. Scott Wiggam (R-Wayne County) led the effort within the Ohio House in passing Senate Bill 311, which clarifies the authority of the Department of Health in its quarantine and isolation health orders on Ohioans. Wiggam testified to the bill on the House floor earlier today.

State Rep. Scott Wiggam (R-Wayne County) announces that he recently supported and the General Assembly approved House Bill 614, which provides $650 million of federal CARES Act funding to local communities across Ohio for COVID-19 pandemic-related expenses. The funding will be made available to counties, municipalities, and townships throughout Wayne County.

Our nation’s 2020 primary season is largely in the books. In response to the coronavirus pandemic, many states pushed forward with a mail-only or a primarily mail-in primary election, with the majority of polling places closed in Ohio, New Jersey, Maryland, Georgia, Nevada, and others. Ohio was one of the earliest to make these changes. Only now are we fully realizing that the push for mail elections had serious consequences, not just in our state but all over the U.S. These consequences should make us think before we rush to expand these measures again in November.

State Rep. Scott Wiggam (R-Wayne County) announces that the State Controlling Board recently approved coronavirus relief funding to support local schools preparing for the beginning of the upcoming school year. 

State Rep. Scott Wiggam (R-Wayne County) and the Ohio House passed House Bill 425, known as the Duty to Notify When Asked Law. The legislation clarifies ambiguous language and removes the severe penalties associated with the ambiguous language, protecting the rights of concealed handgun license (CHL) holders across the state. Wiggam spoke to the bill on the House floor.
