Issue 1 Poll Proves Overwhelming, Bipartisan Support to Vote "NO" on August Special Election for Special Interests

Richard D. Brown News

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester) today says the new USA TODAY Network/Suffolk University poll that shows 57% of likely Ohio voters are against Issue 1 proves there is overwhelming, bipartisan support to defeat this undemocratic attack by extremists and special interest to make it harder to amend the Ohio constitution.

“For over 111 years, Ohioans have had the freedom to decide our future when politicians failed to represent our interests. Issue 1 would destroy that constitutional freedom and replace it with minority rule in Ohio,” said Rep. Brown. “It’s no surprise that people on both sides of the aisle, including four former Ohio governors and five former attorneys general, would be against Issue 1. Issue 1 is an atrocity and takes away the sacred value of one person, one vote.”

Along with extremely strong Democratic support, the USA TODAY Network/Suffolk University poll of 500 likely Ohio voters found that, “41% of Republicans, 60% of independents and 41% of Ohioans who voted for President Donald Trump in 2020 said they're also against it.”

House Dems are united on voting “NO” on the unpopular, unfair, & undemocratic Issue 1 which would end majority rule in Ohio. Get more info on making a plan to vote “NO” to protect our freedoms here.
