COLUMBUS—Ohio House Democrats today introduced House Bill (HB) 738 – legislation to repeal HB 6, a controversial corporate bailout legislation at the center of an FBI investigation into an alleged $60 million public corruption scheme led by Republican Speaker Larry Householder (R-Glenford), the largest corruption and money-laundering scheme ever in Ohio. Democrats began calling for Householder’s resignation as news broke last week.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Michael J. Skindell (D-Lakewood) and Rep. Michael O’Brien (D-Warren) announced plans today to introduce a bill that would repeal House Bill 6. This bill follows news that Speaker of the House Larry Householder (R-Glenford) allegedly accepted tens of millions of dollars in bribes to pass it and prevent a referendum.

State Representative Michael J. Skindell (D-Lakewood) issued the following statement on today’s ruling by the U.S. Supreme in Bostock v. Clayon County, Georgia, which concluded that under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act that it is illegal for an employer to fire someone because of their sexual orientation or gender identity:

COLUMBUS— State. Rep. Michael Skindell (D-Lakewood) today urged action on the Ohio Fairness Act, bipartisan legislation that would protect LGBTQ Ohioans from discrimination in employment, housing and accommodations. The Ohio Fairness Act had its last hearing on Feb. 4, 2020 in the Ohio House Civil Justice Committee.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Michael Skindell (D-Lakewood) today issued a statement following a House floor session where all members were not socially distanced as the health experts recommend and where only a few of the Republican members were wearing masks.

COLUMBUS – State Representative Michael J. Skindell (D-Lakewood) today introduced a resolution to amend the Ohio House Rules to require all persons over the age of two, including any member, to cover their mouth and nose with a mask or cloth face covering while attending a meeting of the House or meeting of any standing committee, subcommittee or select committee of the House.  Exceptions would be made for a person unable to wear a mask or face covering due to a medical condition or the person is otherwise exempted by the Ohio Department of Health guidance.

COLUMBUS— State Reps. Erica C. Crawley (D-Columbus) and Michael Skindell (D-Lakewood) provided sponsor testimony on Tuesday before the House Ways and Means Committee for House Bill (HB) 114, which would modify the State’s Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), making it partially refundable.
