COLUMBUS – State Representative Dick Stein (R-Norwalk) was pleased to vote for House Bill 291, which will now head to Governor DeWine for his signature.

This Legislation includes several road-naming bills including one in Huron County. Army Sergeant Patrick Ryan Carrol Memorial Highway will be designated because of the passing and hopeful sighing of House Bill 291.

The road naming will occur on a portion of state route 162, running east and west, between Fitchville and the boundary of the municipal corporation of New London, in Huron County.

Army Sergeant Patrick Ryan Carrol passed on February 7, 2011. His unit sustained an attack in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan with an improvised explosive device. Wounds of the explosion led to his passing but his memory lives on.

He was assigned to the 319th Military Intelligence Battalion at Fort Bragg, N.C.

“Army Sergeant Patrick Ryan Carrol is a Hero who gave his life defending our freedom overseas and he will forever be in the memory of all those he served,” said Stein. “A road naming is a small way we can repay Army Sergeant Patrick Ryan Carrol for his ultimate sacrifice and I will always keep his family and loved ones in my prayers.”
