Representative Stein and Senator Manning Announce Funds for Huron and Lorain County
COLUMBUS – State Representative Dick Stein (R-Norwalk) and State Senator Nathan Manning are pleased to announce that one time funding will be awarded to fire departments in both Huron and Lorain Counties as a result of House Bill 110, the State’s Operating Budget.
“It is imperative we provide our first responders with necessary funding to ensure they are able to maintain public safety while operating with the utmost training and the best equipment,” said Stein.
The Funding will be utilized by the fire departments to purchase new equipment and cover training costs. Both Representative Stein and Senator Manning voted for the State Budget and were thrilled to support the legislation which will have a positive impact throughout the state.
“Firefighters play a vital role in keeping our communities safe,” said Manning. “We are happy to support their departments’ efforts to acquire top-grade equipment and provide proper training so they can continue to provide essential services to our communities.”
In total, Fire Departments in Huron County were awarded $50,000 and in Lorain County $125,000. For a further breakdown to see the departments granted funding throughout the two counties please review the attached PDF Document.
The departments that were awarded funding submitted applications for the funding via the State Fire Marshal’s Fire Department Grant Program.
Volunteer, Part-Time, and all other departments in the respective counties were eligible to submit an application and the funds were distributed until they were exhausted. The State Fire Marshal was set with the task of distributing the funding.
