Kick Announces Improvements Coming to Spencer Railyard

Darrell Kick News

COLUMBUS – State Representative Darrell Kick (R-Loudonville) announced the Ohio Controlling Board released more than $6.8 million recently to the Ohio Rail Development Commission in support of the Spencer Connection Project.

The project, totaling $9.8 million, will construct a new connecting track and extend the tracks in the Spencer Railyard. This will allow trains direct access to the railyard and improve crossing safety, railroad fluidity and quality of life for residents in and around the Village of Spencer.

“The tracks in Spencer are an issue for residents,” said Kick. “The trains are having to do a lot of reversing movements when they are organizing cars, blocking roadways in the process. The expansion and improvments will allow for more capacity and easier travel for residents of Spencer.”

The funding for this project was awarded through the Federal Railroad Administration's Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Program.
