State Rep. Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) today applauded the Ohio House passage of House Bill (HB) 2, a long-held Democratic priority that would create the Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Program, specifically designed to bring broadband access to unserved residential households in both rural and urban areas of the state.

“Residential broadband expansion is critical to the establishment of 21st-century infrastructure here in Ohio, and I am thrilled to see this legislation pass out of the House after years of advocacy,” said Rep. Weinstein. “The economic benefits of development within the City of Akron will be felt across our region as more residents can fully engage online learning, telehealth services, and work from home opportunities.”

HB 2 now moves to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
