Cutrona Champions $33 Million for Canfield Schools in State Budget
State Rep. Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) voted to support the state budget, and the legislation was approved by the Ohio House on Wednesday. The budget includes significant funding for Canfield schools that Cutrona offered as an amendment to the bill.
Cutrona worked diligently to include the amendment as a member of the Finance Committee in order to get the funding to complete the new school.
“Unfortunately, the Canfield Middle School is over 100 years old and is falling apart. It was important to get this funding secured in this budget to build the new school and provide students with a proper learning environment,” Cutrona said. “This is a win for Canfield, it’s a win for the students and my constituents. I’m honored to have brought this unprecedented funding for the Canfield school.”
Cutrona also notes the proposal was completed without any expense to residents regarding property taxes.
The $33 million will go toward Canfield schools for the Accelerated School Assistance Program, which will improve the learning environment for students, support their academic success, and prepare them for the workforce.
Cutrona will continue to monitor the budget as it moves to the Senate for further consideration.
