Cutrona Announces Over $300,000 for Valley Foods Inc.

State Rep. Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) announces the State Controlling Board on Monday approved a total of $314,925 for Valley Foods Inc. The funds derive from the Regional 166 Direct Loan Program.

“This project approval is going to help them with upgrades to improve efficiency for their meal kits and ultimately will add and retain jobs for the business,” Cutrona said.

The project approval will upgrade the pouching capacity for the Meal, Ready-To-Eat (MRE) type products needed to fulfill contracts for the Department of Defense and other entities.

Cutrona backed the previous state budget bill, which included support for the loan program. The Regional 166 Direct Loan Program provides low-interest loans for land and building acquisition, construction, expansion or renovation, and equipment purchases for eligible businesses. 

Valley Foods Inc. prepares and packages American-made meal kits for the military, National Guard, disaster relief, summer school programs, and other food service customers.

Due to the project, four jobs will be created, and another 77 retained.
