Cutrona Announces $1.18 Million for YSU Renovations

State Rep. Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) announces the State Controlling Board on Monday approved a total of $1.18 million for upcoming renovations for Youngstown State University.

“I supported and advocated for this funding to the Valley,” Cutrona said. “We must invest in our community and education and I’m honored to support $1.18 million for our Valley’s future.”

The project derives from House Bill 597 from the previous General Assembly, which Cutrona supported in the Ohio House.

The renovations are for YSU's STEM buildings, Moser Hall. Moser Hall includes the engineering, physics, and geological science departments. Additionally, this building is heavily used on a daily basis and has not received an overall interior renovation for several years.

The funding will allow for YSU to move forward with construction. The work in this approval will consist of upgrades to the heavily utilized auditorium and additional classrooms.

The next State Controlling Board meeting is scheduled for May 8.
