COLUMBUS — State Rep. Al Cutrona, R-Canfield, was officially sworn in today to his first term of office as the state representative for the 59th Ohio House District, which includes most of Mahoning County.

Cutrona was originally selected to fill the seat back in May 2020 after the death of the late state Rep. Don Manning. Cutrona later won the seat during the November election.

“It’s exciting being a part of today’s ceremony, and I am thankful for this opportunity,” Cutrona said in a news release. “Just like last year, I am once again beholden to my constituents and am down here in Columbus to represent them — that is what I will do moving forward for the upcoming General Assembly.”

Today’s swearing-in ceremony marks the beginning of the 134th General Assembly.

Cutrona graduated from Canfield High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science and history from Youngstown State University and his juris doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

Cutrona is a practicing attorney and also has held several other positions at law offices throughout his professional career. He also is the chief operating officer for the Northeastern Ohio Infectious Disease Association.
